Richie and I were hesitant to have Naomi "participate" in Halloween, but we realized that it's our duty as good parents to eventually teach her how to get involved without getting absorbed in some of the darker aspects of this strange "holiday." It's a lot of fun to see kids (and grownups!) in costume, but it can also be very scary for kids (and grownups!) when the costumes are downright gruesome. Nevertheless, we decided to dress Naomi up and share her costume with family, but we didn't take her door-to-door Trick-Or-Treating.
The Friday before Halloween, we went to St. Joseph's school to visit Dean and Joshua during their parade. Mimi-girl didn't have an official costume on, but she was wearing a black velour track suit with leopard-print trim (thanks Bumpkin!) and a "Best Witches" shirt with cute orange and black socks that look like shoes. Here's a pick of our little angel trying to flap her wings =)

Since it was Naomi's first Halloween, I wanted to get her a fancy costume but Richie reminded me that she's only going to wear it once and she won't even remember it. True. But I LOVE taking pics of her in all her cute outfits (can't you tell?!) So I ended up finding a cute furry animal costume at a thrift store (that had on all it's tags and had never been worn) for only $3 bucks (Score!) The thing is that I bought it a while back and it's a size 0-3 mos. Granted, she fit in it comfortably at 4.5 months, but would she fit in it at almost 6 months!? She's growing so fast! I did have a backup costume just in case, but fortunately it still fit...

Even though it fit, I still couldn't help but dress her up in the backup costume, which ended up being quite adorable. Check out the cute little Raiderette... complete with her black and white maryjane shoes and my favorite: the sunburst flower head piece. It's like her pom-pom... but attached to her head! heeheehee

Funny side note: a couple days before Halloween, Richie asks me, "So is Mimi gonna be a Raiderette or just a rat?" I was shocked that he would even think to call her cute costume such a gross creature! Then I thought of something super silly... "Hey, maybe she could be a Raider-Rat!" I began imagining her wearing the cheerleader outfit on top of the mouse costume =P Now that would have been hilarious! Alas, I didn't put her through such humiliation.
We would have visited her girl cousins in South City if the Bay Bridge wasn't shut down, but she did end up having a great time hanging out in Hercules, especially with Yoda =)
