Poor baby! Instead of having an amazing weekend out and about, little Mimi spent it at home... sick =( BOO! Richie and I were looking forward to a joyous first weekend together after my first week of work and Naomi's first week of daycare. It started off fine and dandy - on Saturday morning we went shopping at Target to buy Naomi some new shoes (a special request from Ms. Adela, since Mimi is beginning to cruise!) While we were shopping, I noticed that the baby felt warm. Sure enough, when we got back home and checked her temperature, she had a fever of 101.7 =(
We stayed chill in the evening and I was crossing my fingers that she would be well by morning because there was supposed to be a big day ahead of us. Mimi and are were supposed to attend her new friend Malaya's first birthday party at Gymboree - I made friends with the birthday girl's parents Jamie and Hidhe while shopping at Target ;) Then we were going to attend a Super Bowl get together in Pinole - Mimi LOVES watching football! The night before, I even wrapped up Malaya's gift and got Naomi's Raiderette outfit ready for her to wear...

Unfortunately, I didn't have to wait until Sunday morning to realize that Naomi wasn't going to be in the mood to party. She was super fussy in the middle of the night and didn't want to nurse like she normally does. When we woke up, she was still at 101 and her nose was very congested. We had to cancel the birthday party and the football shindig and chill out at home. We had our own mini celebration... along with getting Naomi some infant Tylenol, he also came back with some ribs, buffalo chicken wings, chips and beer =)
I gave Mimi the medicine at 5pm and when I checked her again and I thought her fever had broke because she was down to 99.2. I didn't give her any more Tylenol, especially since she was super happy and talkative again before going to bed. BUT, Naomi woke up at 3AM and she was really miserable. I got really worried when she started getting the chills =( When I saw 103.4 on the thermometer, we called the doctor right away to get advice. Dr. Vo told us to give her more medicine and bring her to the doctor's office in the morning. I felt so terrible for Naomi!
It was hard for me to go to work on Monday, but Richie assured me that she'd be okay with him. He took her to the doctor's and they determined that Naomi had caught a virus that was going around (there were about 10 other kids in the waiting room with the same bug!) She also had a fresh ear infection. BOO! After the appointment, they went to Pinole, where Grandma and Grandpa took care of Ganda. She didn't eat much, but when I got home from work, she "went to town!"
I couldn't believe that after only one week of daycare, she already got sick! I suppose she could have caught it anywhere, but it just goes to show that we have to be extra careful about keeping everything clean and keeping her warm in this cold weather. Turns out that her cousin Bella has an ear infection, too!
On the brighter side of things, even though Naomi got sick, I really think that she had a great first week of school. She doesn't cry when I leave her in the morning and Ms. Adela has been telling us that she's happy and very smart. Mimi eats very well and get this... she's been drinking milk out of a bottle! Finally! =) I know this won't be the last time that Ganda gets sick, but I'll be praying that she stays very healthy for a loooooong time!
